Born just six miles from Dunedin and driven home to a cottage on Cedarwood Dr., Shane Warth can rightfully say he was born and raised in Dunedin. He attended Dunedin elementary, Dunedin middle and Dunedin high school. His parents, Paul & Gleda Warth, moved to Dunedin in 1958 and owned and operated a business on Patricia Avenue for 49 years. Along with his wife Tina, he worked side by side with his parents from 1997-2011. This experience taught him what it means to both a homeowner and part of the business community of Dunedin. Shane met his wife Tina in 7th grade and they have been married for 29 years. They have two children who also live in the area. Shane loves the Dunedin way of life. Protecting that way of life is why he is running for a seat on the city council. As Dunedin grows and changes, Shane wants to ensure the quality of our life while honoring the past contributions of CIty Council.
Shane feels Dunedin should remain a destination spot for Tampa Bay locals, our visitors from the north and anyone looking for a relaxing stay in a vibrant Florida small town.
Shane's primary focus will be to keep his hometown as he remembers it: small with the local business charm, a destination for events and festivals or just great food and entertainment
With any popular destination, the city council has a responsibility to manage growth while maintaining the quality of life the locals come to expect. Tourism should be embraced and celebrated–especially with the crowds coming to enjoy Spring Training activities. The thoughtful management of how visitors experience the city he loves will always be at the top of Shane's to do list. He understands how this works together as you can often find Shane in one of our local breweries or watering holes checking out the local music and nightlife.
Shane wants to make it clear he has a very altruistic approach to managing change in Dunedin and has no financial gain by being in the city council. His choice to run for city council truly comes down to his love of his hometown and wanting it to remain the town he knows and loves for the next generation.
We can't win this race without your help. Flyering, yard signs, word-of-mouth, and donating are all ways of helping us achieve our goals together to keep Dunedin the paradise we all love
Come meet Shane, we love our locals and transplants, Dunedin is Warth it!
